The Role: 

The Data Scientist will work as part of the Development organization to build data science and machine learning solutions. Data Scientists have access to unique talent and data to build new models as part of a growing team. Data Scientists collaborate with engineers and data architects to integrate their models into pipelines for internal and client consumption. In this role, you will work as part of the cross-functional team to build and embed analytics, Machine Learning and AI to better serve our customers with the information that will change the way they do business

About you: 

You are a business-minded Data Scientist with an extensive technical toolkit and at least 3-5 years of experience working with real-life data (co-op, internships, or work-study experience is acceptable). Ideally, you have startup experience and you thrive in an ambiguous environment, building the infrastructure as you need it. You have exceptional communication skills with an ability to ask questions, probe further, and present insights clearly in non-technical language.

The Role:

  • As part of a data team, design, build and improve data science and machine learning models

  • Collaborate with development resources to define and scope data science solutions

  • Build new features, perform feature selection and model choice, and implement production-ready models

  • Participate in model and code reviews and contribute to a team consistently shipping new or updated analytics solutions

  • Define and implement metrics that will track model performance over time to identify risks and opportunities

Must have:

  • 2-5 years of combined education and experience in a Data Science capacity

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or Computer Science, or a related technical field and applied work experience designing, building, and maintaining data processing systems, data models, and data lakes

  • Demonstrated work experience with data transformation and cleaning, feature building, model implementation, and model performance evaluation

  • Ability to write clean, well-organized Python code that will integrate easily into the production pipeline

  • Advanced knowledge in SQL and strong data analysis skills; including collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data

  • Ability to build successful ML projects with a strong engineering focus

  • Preferably experience with distributed computing: PySpark and/or Scala

  • A commitment to collaboration. You thrive working across inter-disciplinary groups, including architects, developers, product, and management, to build great products

  • Excellent communication skills with a knack for communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences

  • A detail-oriented mind with inclination for investigative data work
