Our client, a high-profile Employee Benefits and Insurance Company, located in the GTA, is seeking a Director of Enterprise Architecture


  • The Director, Enterprise Architecture leads and coordinates all aspects of the EA practice, including:

  • Business Architecture: driving business capability and value stream mapping
  • Solutions and Application Architecture: identification and implementation of business solutions
  • Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture: evolving the technical on-premise and cloud-based infrastructure in line with the broader EA strategy, in collaboration with the Director IT Operations.
  • Security Architecture:  working with the CISO to align security architecture

Must Have:

  • University degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience
  • Experienced in strategic and operations planning and/or business, information, solution or technical architecture, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management.
  • Knowledge of business ecosystems, software as a service (SaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT and predictive analytics.
  • Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, and EA and ITIL frameworks
  • Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Strong leadership, analytical and technical skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of all components of holistic enterprise architecture; business engineering principles and processes
  • Familiarity with basic graphical modeling approaches, tools and model repositories
  • Knowledge of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and risk management
  • Understanding of agile principles, methodologies and frameworks, scaling at enterprise level
  • Understanding of existing, new and emerging technologies, and processing environments
  • Understanding of cloud based architectural patterns and solutions at an enterprise level
  • Technology competency areas – Cloud Native, Microservices and APIs, Reactive Systems, Analytics & Streaming Pipelines, DevOps – CI/CD
  • Organizationally savvy, and ability to navigate obstacles and drive alignment
  • Balance the long-term (“big picture”) and short-term implications of individual decisions and organization goals
  • Rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
  • Capable and able to balance between foundational EA (1: renovating the core of the IT estate, ensuring efficiency and predictability) and future state EA (2: business and operating model design, technology innovation, speed, agility and flexibility to meets the organization’s needs)
