Must Have:

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent experience coupled with 5 years or more ‘hands on’ experience with Virtualized server environments
  • 5 Years of supporting virtualization infrastructure, and Windows environment
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Windows Server 2008-2016
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with VMWare ESXi
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with Windows Desktop operating system and applications
  • Knowledge and experience with backup technologies such as Windows Server Backup, VEEAM
  • Understanding of SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, containers and the cloud environment
  • Solid knowledge of data center design and architecture
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and engaged in technology, passionate about new technology and ability to recommend solution options
  • Motivation and capability to grasp key elements of our business strategy and its implications for Business Technology
  • Commitment to continuous process improvements, collaborative team work and operational excellence
  • Proven abilities to establish effective working relationships with business and technical subject matter experts and 3rd party vendors

Our client, a leading Financial Services company in Calgary, is seeking a Senior System Admin will be responsible for playing a key role in helping to optimize and maintain the existing infrastructure. This position requires a thorough understanding on how to maintain and improve the performance of virtualized servers, databases, networking, and applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and ensure the integrity of host computers, storage systems, and personal systems while meeting service levels
  • Maintain and improve virtualized servers, file servers, applications, and other services
  • Help to identify system / database / application issues, anticipate problems and implement solutions within the current infrastructure
  • Manage and administer all operating systems, required upgrades and patch management
  • Setup, perform, monitor, and troubleshoot system backups and disaster recovery mechanisms
  • Analyze system or application usage and plan for growth or increases in system capacity
  • Assist in the design, development, and implementation of the architecture on a Hyper Converged platform
  • Monitor all infrastructure and system components
  • Monitors, plans, and coordinates the distribution of client/server software and service packs
  • Makes recommendations for the purchase of new equipment and services
  • Perform on-site and remote user technical support
  • Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources
  • Provide level 3 technical triage and troubleshooting of business-driven issues, and ensure the implementation of a solution
