Our client is an agency of the Government of Ontario, they deliver a variety of programs and payments on behalf of the federal and provincial governments. Their specialties include Insurance, and Agriculture.

The Guidewire System Integration Developer will provide technical expertise in the design, development and support of core IT applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and define moderately complex business requirements for a solution
  • Develop functional specifications
  • Participate in overall design of integrations in conjunction with experts on the target systems
  • Demonstrate capability of adopting new technologies and procedures and contribute to improving existing procedures
  • Use strong analytical and problem-solving expertise to perform complex analysis of data and develop business intelligence integration designs
  • Design and develop integration components, including plug-ins, messaging and supporting business rules
  • Optimize data integration to provide optimal performance under increasing data volumes
  • Contribute to the design and execution of data integration standards according to the organization’s policies as well as best practices
  • Maintain moderately complex data modeling and make recommendations for extending data model based on requirements
  • Provide regular status and statistical reports for management use
  • Develop unit and integration test cases as part of integration and code development and verification
  • Perform unit testing and resolve defects
  • Conduct code and integration review and walkthrough
  • Provide application support, including off-hours, on-call duty
  • Follow prescribed Development Lifecycle methodology used by IT

Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent experience
  • 2-5 years’ experience in Guidewire integrations
  • Experience in implementing financial services in Guidewire 
  • 3-5 years’ experience in scripting language
  • Minimum 5 years’ technical experience in development using JavaScript, Java, C# or similar language
  • 3-5 years’ experience in systems integration and SOA
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working with SQL
  • Experience in financial services
    • Experience with XML
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Technical certification in Guidewire Policy Centre and Claim Centre preferred
    • Strong ability to debug system issues and resolve defects
    • Experience in production support with strong analytical skills to identify and address production issues
    • Experience in modern integrated development environments, such as Eclipse and rapid application development
    • Experience with code management tools and code merges
    • Experience with technical documentation, Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project, SharePoint, Team Foundation Server and Visual Studio Team System
    • Knowledge of Agile system development methodology an asset
